Yvette Qiang: Chinese Student Life Opportunities and Value of Choice

As you know China is still a developing country, but America is a developed country. Here are many reasons effect our countries. And education is the one of the most important things in the world. But it is a common idea that the Chinese education system is far greater than American education system, if this is true, then why is there a great influx of Chinese students coming to America to be educated? Some students come to study in US, because they want to avoid the “college entrance examination” in China. And they want to enjoy studying and living. Should Chinese choose reality or dream? We do not clearly about the goal of the Chinese education. My goal is compare Chinese high school education and American high school education but also relate of history of Chinese and American’s education systems and my experiences in both high schools. Having a view about Chinese students’ life opportunities, and understanding the true quality of education should be based on knowledge of the value of life that is more important than grades in subjects.

Yvette,
This is a very interesting topic, one I've been thinking about lately while hosting an exchange student. I am anxious to read your conclusions after weighing the benefits of each system. I'm curious if you believe that the short term life experiences in a system which allows more "living" for the student would outweigh the possible long term life experiences gained by somebody with more opportunities in life provided by a more impressive education background. Perhaps you would even disagree that that is a valid question.
Thank you for researching this topic. It is an important one to explore.

Thank you for replying!

I think I am agree with you. Education is a very serious topic and also is one of the most important things in the world. I am glad that I have chance to come here and study under two totally different education background. But it is also hard to me to talk about this topic. I am a Chinese, I do not want people to say any bad things about my country. But personally,  I like American education system more than Chinese education system. I will talk about it more on my paper!

Thank you so much for your replying!

Yvette, I will find your paper very interesting, particularly as you share your experiences in the two different systems.  You will be able to help us understand your country better while also helping us to assess our own system.
Thank you! I was worried about my topic before. I was not sure It is a right choice for me. I think It's also a chance for me to understand my country better. I changed a lot these few months. And I am glad you are interested in it!
