Adam Schwab

Student Summary:
Subliminal persuasion is a topic which has entangled psychologists for decades. The debate over whether it is an effective style of advertising has never been solved in a satisfactory manner. This paper is a look at the arguments on both sides of the debate, attempting to find a solution to the question. The theory of subliminality has a valid basis in psychology and has been shown to be effective in various ways by different case studies. Because of the psychological and scientific evidence, it is reasonable to conclude that the subliminal style of persuasion has a basis in the future of marketing. In conclusion, the public should be both aware of the fact that their unconscious can be manipulated, and be careful of the way they try to persuade people.
