Student Summary:
Foster children are reaching the age of independence completely
unprepared to survive on their own. The way foster children are
educated must be reformed to better meet their needs so that they
are well prepared to exit the foster program at the age of 18. Key
changes can be mode at government and community levels that would
drastically improve the foster children’s opportunities for
success. Encouraging the development of strong independent and
after school programs and increasing cross school communication can
lead to measurable differences in foster child’s quality of
life.
