Student Summary:
There are many examples of how ancient and new imperialism is both good and bad. One benefit new imperialism gives is that it may have provided the bases of the sub-nations’ modernization. However, despite these benefits, the imperialist should not treat the subject nation’s people in harsh conditions. Especially Japan took Korea over for more than 30 years and stripped off the Koreans of resources and culture. Many Koreans suffered due to Japan’s harsh treatment. Women were taken away as slaves for Japanese soldiers and men were taken away for suicide missions such as holding a bomb and running into the enemy’s base, or being a human shield for s higher ranking Japanese soldier. The later effects of imperialism are always bad, and it certainly draws back the evolution of a such country.
