Class of 2012 Topic Summaries
Students appreciate feedback and ideas from everyone in our community. As you look over their plans, please take a moment to respond:
Aiming at Wisdom and Eloquence
Our senior thesis program provides a critical component of our school culture and telos, bringing together and applying the studies of grammar, logic and rhetoric while addressing a challenging issue under the light of God's Truth. During the course of the year, please plan to encourage our seniors and sharpen their thoughts by reading and responding to their thesis topics as they are posted in stages. Input from our whole adult community will cheer and motivate both students and teachers.
Upper School teacher David Kearns provides leadership to a team that oversees this class. Students also have outside advisers assigned to them individually from throughout our school staff. Over the course of the year, seniors write a thesis paper (about 15 pages) and prepare a presentation for the school board (about 20 minutes). Topics are selected by the students. Everyone in the school community is invited to these presentations, and attending is an excellent way to get a sense for what characterizes our graduates. Presentations before the school board will take place during regular school-day hours on May 7 and 8, 2012.
