Building a Temple of Peace

I was out running an errand today and drove by a group of people walking into a nearby funeral home.  It’s a  sunny spring day and I thought to myself, “What a beautiful day to be outside for a funeral.”   The irony immediately struck me and, imagining the grief of all of those black-clad individuals, I quickly revised my sentiments to, “If you have to be at a funeral, better this beautiful sunny day than a rainy one.”  And I said a quick prayer that each one in that sad company would be…See More

"Whenever we walk into a library I always stop, look at all the books and say, "Hello, Friends!" The girls have always found this silly, but this sweet little film made them understand why I do it -- by bringing the books to life. :)"

"Wonderful! Loved watching the girls slowly understand the hidden meaning in this story. (" Oh! The people are gray until the stories brings color to them!") Next in my queue of stories to get lost in: The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. :)"

You Can Call Me "Mom"

I'll be the first to admit it -- hosting international students can be a challenge.  There are the obvious issues:  more laundry, more shopping, more cooking, more homework, more scheduling.  And the not-so-obvious issues:  What should these kids call me? Am I a Mom, a friend, a guardian or just their driver?!We are currently hosting our 4th, 5th and 6th South Korean students, three wonderful sisters who have no idea that they are blessing me even more than I am blessing them.  Simply having…See More
