In this course titled Patristics & Christian Learning, Dr. Jordan Wood reviews the big ideas of the Church Fathers as they relate to education. He frames the course by introducing the tension between Divine and human wisdom that is present in creation. He moves in roughly chronological order from the first Christian apologists including Justin Martyr through Saint Augustine and he concludes with a lecture on Saint Maximus the Confessor’s thoughts about creation as an education. You’ll want to also view the two conversations in this course between Dr. Jordan Wood and Michael Hornbaker where they discuss some practical applications of this course and the “how” of getting your students to pursue wisdom.
