  • Discuss ways that you have engaged in both macro- and micro-level communication. Do you think you have the right balance of the two? What does the right balance look like?
  • Discuss ways in which you have benefitted by being proactive in your communication, making the initial contact with a parent when a difficulty arose.

  • Consider taking Lori Jill’s advice and taking the initiative to contact the parents of those students you teach who are the most difficult. Discuss what you think you should say to each parent that will serve them and build trust.
