David V. Hicks

David V. Hicks is a graduate of Princeton University and an Oxford Rhodes Scholar. He has served as an officer in the US Navy and on the staff of the US Naval War College as well as headmaster for several prominent independent schools, including St. Mark’s in Texas, St. Paul’s in New Hampshire, and Darlington in Georgia. He has served as Chief Academic Officer for the Meritas Family of Schools, and on multiple boards including as vice chairman of the TASIS Foundation board in Switzerland. 

David published Norms and Nobility: A Treatise on Education in 1981 as well as multiple books since then including a widely-read translation of Marcus Aurelius with his brother C. Scot Hicks and multiple translations of Plutarch also with his brother (published by the CiRCE Institute). His newest book is The Stones Cry Out! which helps readers to better see, discern, and choose the sacred and secular myths by which we orient our sense of what is good, evil, moral, true, and reasonable.
