Introduction: Why Study Progressive Education? (Preview Content)

The following lecture series seeks to elucidate the core educational commitments of the contemporary cultural atmosphere in Western Civilization. Dr. Edwards concentrates on the historical context of the progressive education movement and traces out the implication of this movement for our contemporary understanding of school and education. Approach the lecture series in the intellectual spirit of the great philosophers of Western Civilization, who dared to ask the “big” questions regarding the meaning of education, culture, human being, and even existence itself!
