I was definitely struck with wonder in how musical form developed from simple neumes to the notation we have today just as the need for more complex arrangements were possible (historically speaking). I think understanding how this took shape would give many confidence that they can “read” music if simply learning to chant with neumes. It’s a great starting point for children and for those who don’t read instrumental music notes.
