- As Andrew Kern shares in this lecture, mathematics and the Quadrivium are essential to practicing endurance and resolving discord. When your students, in the classroom or homeschool classroom, struggle with math and resist learning, what are some tangible ways you can encourage them to press forward? How can you help your students realize the physical, soulful, and spiritual richness of the Quadrivium?
- Can you think of ways in which you play into the false idea that “Knowledge is power?” when it comes to the classroom or your own approach to the Quadrivium (Arithmetic, Geometry, Harmonia & Astronomy)? What are they, and how can you reverse these?
- For example, instead of saying, “Practice your instrument tonight because you need to achieve First Chair in band!” you can realize that music, or Harmonia, allows students access to the beautiful sounds of numbers moving through time and space.
- Similarly, what are some ways you can alter or add to your teaching of mathematics (arithmetic & geometry) so that your students can learn how to reach harmony and truth, rather than just getting that test score or study time in?
